Did Vonage steal a phone number from a Packet8 subscriber?

Russell Shaw of ZDnet received an email from a customer Packet8 (note, a Packet8 customer, and not a Vonage customer). Here is the gist of it: I do not subscribe to Vonage, which I use for my Packet8 VoIP. In a Vonage assigned Packet8 my phone. One of its new clients. Vonage called me and told me that since there was a request for "port" numbers, they did.

Vonage has to solve this problem since hurry! .
